Paving Bathroom Furniture

Does paving bathroom furniture sound slightly bizarre to you? Believe it or not, this technique is quite popular...though it has nothing to do with asphalt.

So, what does paving bathroom furniture mean? This style of decorating is usually applied to floors that require granite, or other stone, tile. It is called “paving” solely due to the fact that one must slab squares of stone on the floor or on the wall in order to achieve the desired effect. Recently, this decorating style has been applied to furniture in general in order to create a uniform look.

If you can imagine the side of your bathtub covered in the same stones that your floor and wall are covered in, you may begin to grasp this concept. Of course, the amount of space that you cover with stone is entirely up to you. Many people are finding that running the same theme throughout the bathroom (mirror, toilet, bathtub, faucets) really helps to tie the whole room together. If you think that covering everything in the same material sounds a bit overdone, there are other options.

You may want to consider paving bathroom furniture in a variety of colors. If you use the same stone cut and manufacturer, you can easily cover one wall in a light color while the rest are dark (or vice versa). Or, you can single out one of two things inside of the room to cover in tile (other than the floor). The idea is to treat this space as you would a road, and pave the entire thing. If you are having a hard time grasping this decorating theme, take the time to flip through various decor magazines and brochures.

Since this technique has become quite popular lately, you should have no problem finding many examples to follow. Simply find the one that you like, order the proper stones, and begin covering your space. Or, you can hire an interior designer to really come up with something unique that suits your overall style. One word of caution – before you begin this technique, make sure that you lay out all those tiles first (just to be on the safe side).

As you can see, paving bathroom furniture is really not so odd after all. There are many design ideas and styles within the interior world, so why not take the time to explore them all?
