Bathroom Wall Tile
Are you in the process of choosing bathroom wall tile? If so, you should know that style and color are not the most important parts of this material.
While you will want to select something that you actually like, basing your selection solely upon color and style is a huge mistake. Why? Some tiles will work fine in the shower, while others will literally deteriorate. Likewise, some tiles are meant for walls or floors while some are not meant to be stood on or banged against. See why the type of tile matters? If you plan to cover your tub, shower, or sink area, you will need tiles that are “semivitreous.” If you want to simply cover your walls, choose ones that are “nonvitreous.”
What’s the difference? Semivitreous tiles only absorb some of the water, while nonvitreous ones will absorb water completely. In order to keep them from cracking, you do not want ones that absorb all the water in a tub, shower, or sink area. Keep this in mind when you are shopping, and you will then be able to select the colors and styles that you like the best. Sometimes, you may not be able to find great tiles for the area that you are going to place them in. If this happens, you may have to custom order yours, and while this can be pricey it will also guarantee a room that lasts without chipping, cracking, or breaking.
No matter what kind you choose, it is advisable to purchase more than you actually need. Since they are rather fragile, tiles have a habit of cracking and chipping over time. Should you select ones that are hard to find today, imagine how difficult they will be to find in a few years if they need to be replaced. If you are going to re-surface the entire space with bathroom wall tile, in order to create an aesthetically appealing room be sure to picture the whole entire space as a whole before covering one area.
When you focus upon one single area, it is easy to forget about the rest of the room. This means that while one spot may look great covered in blue it will not look so great when the rest of the room has been finished in pink. In short, have a designer or contractor draw up a plan for you to see prior to installing anything. You must think of this room as a whole in order to create a uniform look.
Have fun installing your bathroom wall tile – this process should be full of creation and inspiration. If you keep the above information in mind, your room will look sublime.
