Bathroom Rugs

When most people think of bathroom rugs, they tend to turn their noses up in disgust. Those carpets that line the bathroom floor can get pretty grimy... thankfully, they are relatively inexpensive.

Finding bathroom rugs that match and placing them throughout the room are a great way to create a stylish space that is color coordinated. However, be aware that you may have to change them upon occasion (they tend to get rather dirty), so be prepared to buy a new bunch in order to keep up with your theme. When choosing a carpet for this room, make sure to buy one that includes a non-slip grip on the back, and also select one that is entirely absorbent.

Sometimes, people place carpets that are not meant for this type of room inside of a bathroom space. While it is great to take things from other rooms and place them where they are not meant to be, a carpet that cannot absorb water properly will result in a carpet that is filled with water – in short, this will become a carpet that breeds mildew. In fact, once you feel as though yours is no longer picking up excess water it may be time to change it.

In addition to selecting the right type of carpet, it is also crucial that you store it properly. Often, these carpets are thrown on the floor for an entire week, though this will only create large pockets of bacteria and mildew. Instead, be sure to hang yours on the side of your tub or on a towel rack in order to avoid rot and decay. Most bathroom rugs will last for approximately one year before they need to be replaced.

Even if you cannot see visible rot on your carpet, this does not mean that it isn’t there. Most of the time, this type of bacteria is impossible to view with the naked eye, so get rid of those carpets after one year anyway. This is precisely why (unless you have an endless budget), it does not make any sense to invest a lot of money in this portion of your room – you will literally be throwing money away should you do so.

As far as bathroom rugs are concerned, all they really need to have is that non-slip back and the ability to absorb moisture properly. Other than that, any kind that you buy will work just fine inside of your space.
