Bathroom Wall Mirrors

The mirror is an essential element of a bathroom. Bathroom wall mirrors do not just have to be something to check your appearance; they can be a major design feature of the room.

Bathroom Wall Mirrors

It is rather hard to imagine a bathroom without a mirror. Bathroom wall mirrors are considered an essential element of a bathroom. Since grooming is often done at the bathroom sink, it is necessary to check your work from time to time. So, mirrors are in the bathroom for a functional purpose. The basic bathroom often has a medicine cabinet with mirrors in the doors. When closed, this provides the basic functionality, but it adds very little to the decorating motif of the bathroom itself.

This is an area where a major bathroom renovation project can begin. Bathroom wall mirrors are available in so many different sizes, shapes, and framings that they can easily be a motif centerpiece around which the bathroom design can revolve. Even if the wall mirror is not the main feature, it is quite easy to use wall mirrors to compliment the existing or proposed design.

Although many people do not realize this at first glance, a bathroom has several different basic design motifs that range from classical to modern. Regardless of the motif of your bathroom, you will have a wide choice of wall mirrors that will compliment it. Classical bathroom designs look better with simple framed mirrors. Round mirrors seem to work exceptionally well in classical designs. The circular shape seems to break up the rectangular shapes of the tiles that are often used in classical designs.

When the bathroom is being given a more rustic look, framed mirrors are a better choice. These bathroom wall mirrors can be framed in heavy dark wood frames much like a painting. This dark wood framing tends to make the mirrors stand out as a piece of furniture in bathrooms where enamel sinks and fixtures tend to make the room look a bit too functional.

Two interesting and less common examples of the bathroom wall mirror are the lighted mirror and the extendable arm mirror. Lighted mirrors are not a new idea and are associated in most people's minds with the lighted mirrors of the actor's dressing room. The reason they were used there was to insure proper lighting for the application of make up which begs the question of why they are not used more in residential bathroom mirrors. The extendable arm mirror offers a very functional purpose of being able to be positioned where you need it. With most mirrors, you have to position yourself to use the mirror. The extendable arm wall mirror fits well with more modern and even futuristic bathroom designs.
